MSE promotes an integrated disciplinary approach to
conducting watershed assessments resulting in coordinated efforts to design
and implement control measures aimed at reducing point and non-point source
pollution, controlling runoff, and protecting surface water and drinking
water sources. On behalf of a variety of state and federal agencies (BLM,
USDA-Forest Service, state environmental quality departments), we have
assessed water quality impairment in surface water streams subject to TMDL
limits, quantified loadings for limiting water quality parameters, and
developed watershed and water quality management plans optimizing proven
best management practices. We have conducted streambank erosion inventories
in support of TMDL studies and supported geomorphic risk assessments to
evaluate erosion risks in the watershed. MSE's multi-disciplinary staff
have also developed NPDES permit applications and conducted NPDES permit
required monitoring and reporting. Other key services include: watershed
modeling, surface water management and water quality studies, stream restoration,
erosion and sediment control planning, and development of best management
practices (BMP's) for water quality management.
